Statement from Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford on Yom HaShoah

Published on April 11, 2018

“As Leader of the Ontario PC Party, I unite with the Jewish community in observing Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

“Together across Ontario, Canada, and the world, we solemnly remember the millions of Jewish people who's lives were systematically taken by the Nazi Regime during the Holocaust.

“This period of history, during which innocent people were killed due to their religion, political ideologies, ethnicity, and sexual orientation is one of the darkest in history and must be remembered as such.

“Yom HaShoah is a time to reflect upon this period in history. We honour those who lost their lives, survivors, and others who made sacrifices to resist this atrocious behaviour. The Shoah represents a desolate lesson of the consequences arising from hatred and violence. We must actively work to preserve their narratives.

“Today it is important that we continue to commemorate and honour the legacies of the victims of the Holocaust and the struggle those persecuted faced in the quest for freedom. We must remain attentive and commit to ‘never again’.”
