ONTARIO DEBT HURTING OUR COMPETITIVENESS

QUEEN’S PARK – A new study by the Fraser Institute provides evidence that Ontario’s massive debt is hurting our ability to compete with neighbouring U.S. states for jobs and investment, Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown said today.

“These States are attracting companies Ontario should be getting because they’ve shown they are open for business. These Rust Belt states reduce red tape and have lower hydro rates while Ontario can’t stop spending,” said Brown.

Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown delivers inaugural speech at Annual Toronto Leader’s Dinner

TORONTO - Newly elected Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown continued to carry the energy from his leadership win into his first speech at the sold-out Annual Ontario PC Toronto Leader’s Dinner. Brown welcomed and thanked tonight’s attendees and announced that in the five weeks since being elected Leader, the Ontario PC Party has raised more than $1.5 million dollars.

Brown’s speech focused on the much-needed leadership that Ontario has lacked from this Liberal government by laying out the most pressing priorities that will turn Ontario around: Good roads, affordable energy and reduced red tape.

End of Session News Conference & May Jobs Numbers

Good morning/Bonjour.

I want to speak about two items today. First, the May jobs numbers that were released a short time ago and second, provide a few comments to wrap up the end of this legislative session.

The jobs numbers just released show good growth for the month of May. I am happy for the people who actually were able to find employment.

Back-to-Work Legislation Only Short-term Solution

QUEEN’S PARK – The passage today of Bill 103, Protecting the School Year, marks the short-term solution to a problem that the Liberal Government created.  “We are pleased that students are back in their classes – but that happened because of the decision of the OLRB rather than any positive action taken by this government,” said Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown.  “By not working with teachers and their representatives before any job action took place, this government created the chaos that students and their parents have been living through for the past few weeks.  This isn’t leadership – it’s an abdication of their responsibilities to the people of Ontario.”
