AUDITOR FINDS NORTH EAST LHIN AT THE BOTTOM

QUEEN’S PARK – Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli today grilled the Wynne government over the dismal performance record of the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).

The Auditor General’s annual report last week found the North East LHIN was tied for last among the 14 LHINs, meeting just four of 15 performance targets.

“Residents in Northeastern Ontario didn’t need the Auditor General to tell them our LHIN has done a terrible job delivering care,” said Fedeli.

MPP Walker calls on Minister Damerla to correct erroneous statements on nursing home beds News Date

QUEEN’S PARK – Conservative MPP and PC Critic for Long-Term Care Bill Walker says he is disappointed the Associate Minister of Health and Long-Term Care is making erroneous statements to cover up the government’s lack of action in building new nursing home beds.

MPP Walker cited the Liberal Government’s own media announcements to show that none of them in the last four years mentions the addition of new nursing beds in Ontario.

Government Mismanagement Has Left Health Care System in Shambles: Brown

QUEEN’S PARK – This morning, Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown criticized how the Liberal Government’s mismanagement of the health care system is harming patients.

“We learned from the Auditor General that the backlog of long-term care complaints and critical incidents has more than doubled under Premier Wynne,” stated Leader Patrick Brown.  “The backlog isn’t an issue the government can shrug off when the majority of critical incidents requiring inspections were revealed to be a result of neglect or abuse.”

Turning up the heat on Ontario HOT lanes

QUEEN’S PARK – PC Transportation Critic Michael Harris says the Transportation Minister’s official unveiling of the latest Liberal plan to dig into our wallets will force Ontario motorists to pay twice for the privilege of driving their own roads.

“It’s one thing to create tolls on new roadways where people have the option of choosing an alternate route – it’s an entirely different story to ask motorists to pay again to access lanes on roads they’ve already bought,” said Harris. “What’s more, when I asked the Minister to commit today in the house, he refused to guarantee that tolls collected would go solely to government’s transit commitments as they have suggested.

Liberals Dole out $1.4 Billion with no Transparency

QUEEN’S PARK – Today, Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown lambasted the Liberal Government for handing out $1.4 billion in Economic Development grants without a transparent and open application process.

“80 per cent of the money went to companies that either didn’t apply or were told that their application was simply a formality,” said Leader Patrick Brown. “That’s $1.1 billion handed out to Liberal friends.”
