Ontario PCs call on Ombudsman to investigate Liberals’ broken parole and probation system

QUEEN’S PARK – Today Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown once again slammed the Wynne Liberal government for failing to monitor violent criminals, including sex offenders, who are out on probation.

“The government has let Ontario families down by allowing violent sex offenders in our communities to go unchecked,” stated Brown. “By brushing aside these explosive revelations, they have shown an arrogance and indifference that is an insult to the victims of violent crimes.”

Brown continued to highlight the on-going failings of Attorney General Yasir Naqvi to ensure the public’s safety, and pointed out that the Progressive Conservatives have been sounding the alarm bells about the gaping holes in our criminal justice system for years.

“Minister Naqvi in his various portfolios is responsible for the province’s failed criminal justice system,” Brown continued. “His record is one of indifference and failure, and that is why I am repeating our call for him to resign from cabinet immediately.”

Brown also announced that the PCs are requesting Ontario’s Ombudsman launch an investigation into Ontario’s badly broken parole and probation system.

“Ontarians, and in particular the victims of violent crimes deserve answers to why this government has not addressed this issue and is letting Ontarians down,” added Brown.
