Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown Celebrating Vesak

“Today, Buddhists in Ontario and throughout the world celebrate Vesak, marking the birth of the Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama.

“The festival of Vesak, on the first full moon of May, represents the most sacred day of the year for Buddhists. Although a celebration of his birth, Vesak is also a commemoration of the life, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha. This sacred time is an opportunity for Buddhists to contemplate his compassion, teachings, and example.

“We pride ourselves on being a province welcoming of all people. The Buddha’s message of peace and harmony among human beings is a timeless reminder of the best of our values that can be appreciated by people of all faiths.

“I offer my sincere wishes to everyone celebrating Vesak!”
