Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown Celebrating Philippine Independence Day

“Today, Ontarians of Filipino descent, and proud Filipinos around the world celebrate Philippine Independence Day—commemorating the declaration of the Philippines’ independence on June 12, 1898.

“Today, Ontarians of Filipino heritage continue to make significant contributions to our province’s diversity, economy, and culture. The Philippines has been one of Canada’s top source countries for immigration, adding to the cultural mosaic that is Ontario with each new family that calls our province home.

“Ontario is the proud home of most of Canada’s vibrant and ever-growing Filipino community. Through hard work and the strong desire to contribute to their new home, Ontario’s Filipino community continues to be a vital part of our province’s social fabric.

“To all those celebrating Philippine Independence Day, and the incredible story of Ontario’s Filipino community, Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan!”
