Raymond Cho Wins Scarborough-Rouge River By-Election

SCARBOROUGH – This evening, Ontario PC Candidate Raymond Cho was announced the winner of the Scarborough-Rouge River by-election.

“In this by-election, the residents of Scarborough-Rouge River sent the Wynne Liberals a strong message: we can do so much better,” said Raymond Cho to a crowded room of supporters. “Ontarians are tired of unaffordable electricity. They are angry about Liberal health care cuts. They are fed up with a lack of jobs and economic opportunity. They are sick of being promised subways, only to have these promises broken.”

“I will fight hard to hold Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals accountable. They cannot – and will not – take Scarborough’s families and taxpayers for granted.” added Cho.

With all polls reported, the Ontario PC Party won with 39 per cent and a ten point lead over the Liberal candidate.

Throughout the province, the Ontario PC Party is gaining momentum, now having won three consecutive by-elections. In Simcoe North, the Party saw a 10 per cent increase in its margin of victory. Whitby-Oshawa brought the largest margin of victory in the last six provincial elections in Whitby.

“Tonight the Ontario PC Party has won a riding that has been a Liberal stronghold for nearly 20 years,” Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown added. “After years of Liberal scandal, waste and mismanagement, voters are recognizing that life is harder under the Wynne Liberals. This government can no longer take any riding in the province for granted.”

Raymond Cho also thanked the other candidates for a hard-fought campaign.

“Thank you to the countless dedicated volunteers, and to the residents of Scarborough-Rouge River who put their trust in me. The Ontario PC Party and I will not take your vote of confidence for granted,” Raymond Cho concluded. “I have worked tirelessly for Scarborough as a city councillor, and I will do the same as Scarborough-Rouge River’s next MPP.”
