Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on Gaecheonjeol

Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown made the following statement markingGaecheonjeol:

“Today is the anniversary of Gaecheonjeol, the formation of the first Korean state.

“It is an honour and privilege to extend my warmest greetings to all Ontarians of Korean heritage on Korea’s National Foundation Day.

“While South Korea continues to prosper and grow as a pluralistic, democratic society, it is deeply regrettable that an oppressive dictatorship remains in North Korea. I hope to see the day when all Koreans can look to their ancestral homeland with pride once freedom is achieved across the entire peninsula.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all Canadians of Korean heritage in Ontario who have made significant contributions to Ontario’s prosperity.

“To all who are celebrating, happy Gaecheonjeol!”
