Statement by Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on Diwali

“Today, Ontarians of Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist faiths will gather to celebrate Diwali, one of the most important days of the year for South Asians.

“The Festival of Lights commemorates the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. The lighting of diyas is symbolic of this victory and is a reaffirmation of hope and renewal.

“In Canada, we are blessed to have such a wonderful diversity of different cultures, faiths and backgrounds. Having attended numerous events in the South Asian community, I know that the spirit of entrepreneurism, support for traditions and families is strong in our province!

“Diwali strengthens our communities and spreads friendship across cultures and faiths.

“To all who are celebrating, happy Diwali!”
