Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Rick Nicholls

“I congratulate Rick Nicholls on his nomination as the Ontario PC candidate for Chatham-Kent-Leamington.

“Rick has been a hard-working member of our Ontario PC team since he was first elected in 2011. Born and raised in Chatham-Kent-Leamington, Rick loves his constituency, and will fight for its residents every step of the way. Recently he has helped exposed the impact of skyrocketing electricity prices on local greenhouses, which has forced some companies to invest in more competitive jurisdictions.

“As the Ontario PC Caucus’ critic for Community Safety and Correctional Services, Rick has done a great job of exposing Wynne Liberal negligence which has led to a growing crisis within our correctional system. I have had the opportunity to work closely on this issue with MPP Nicholls and have seen first-hand his passion for the safety of our communities and correctional workers. Rick has also taken on a leadership role within the Legislature, where he serves as Deputy Speaker.

“After 13 years in power, life is harder under the Liberals. Hydro rates are skyrocketing. Health care is being slashed. Scandal after scandal has meant billions of tax dollars have been wasted. It’s time for a change in Ontario. I look forward to working with Rick and all of the members of our team to spread the Ontario PC Party’s message of a more prosperous future.”
