Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Lisa MacLeod

“I congratulate Lisa on her nomination as the Ontario PC candidate for Nepean. I look forward to having her back as a part of our modern, inclusive, and pragmatic Progressive Conservative team.

“Lisa has been a passionate and hardworking member of the Ontario PC team since she was first elected in 2006. In her constituency, Lisa has been a dedicated community leader and contributor to local philanthropic efforts. She has continued to fight for local schools, and was instrumental in the development of a suicide prevention plan for Ottawa. I know Lisa will continue all of her hard work on behalf of her constituents.

“In addition to her tireless work representing her constituency, Lisa currently serves as the Ontario PC Caucus’ critic for the Treasury Board as well as for Digital Government. Lisa’s questioning helped to reveal that the government’s delay in publishing its financial statements was the result of the Auditor General finding an $11 billion dollar hole in the Liberal government’s budget. Lisa also recently reached across the aisle to receive all-party support for her Private Member’s Bill, Rowan’s Law. Rowan’s Law is the first concussion legislation of its kind in Canada and will help to improve concussion awareness and treatment.

“Lisa also continues her great work with Equal Voice, a multi-partisan organization dedicated to electing more women in Canada.

“After 13 years in power, life is harder under the Liberals. Skyrocketing hydro rates are unaffordable for both families and businesses. Cut after cut to health care services has meant more time waiting for care, and taxpayer dollars continue to be wasted on billion dollar scandals. Ontario residents deserve better. It’s time for change.

“I look forward to continuing to work alongside Lisa as we share the Ontario PC Party’s message of a more prosperous province.”
