Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on India’s Republic Day

“Today, I join with Ontarians of Indian heritage in celebrating India’s 68th Republic Day. It was on this day in 1950 that India’s Constitution came into effect, setting India on the path to becoming the world’s largest democracy today.

“During my seventeen visits to India, I saw firsthand the incredible country and culture that has been in the making for thousands of years. With every visit, I am reminded of the kindness, creativity and hard work of India’s citizens.

“These same qualities and more have made a remarkable impact on our country and province. For over 100 years, Canadians of Indian descent have made positive contributions to our social, economic, and political development. From the pride in sharing their heritage and culture, the deep engagement in our democracy, and the many businesses and community initiatives that serve Ontarians of all backgrounds, this is a community that reflects so much of what is great about our province.

“Once again, I offer my warmest wishes.”
