Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Jim Wilson

“I congratulate Jim on his nomination as the Ontario PC candidate for Simcoe-Grey.

“First elected in 1990, Jim is a stalwart in his community and within our Party. Raised in Alliston and a resident of Wasaga Beach, Jim loves his constituency.  Recently he led a successful campaign alongside residents, pilots, and local municipalities to stop the WPD Canada wind turbine project near the Collingwood Regional Airport.

“In 2014, Jim was elected by his Ontario PC Caucus colleagues as Interim Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party and Leader of the Official Opposition, where he managed our Party through a transitional period. Jim has continued in a leadership role within the Legislature, where he is currently doing great work as the Opposition House Leader.

“After nearly three decades in the Legislature, Jim is a very effective parliamentarian. Recently, Jim reached across the aisle to receive all-party support for Private Member’s bills such as the Christmas Tree Day Act and Remembrance Week Act.

“After 13 years in power, life is harder under the Liberals. Hydro rates are skyrocketing. Health care is being slashed. Scandal after scandal has meant billions of tax dollars have been wasted. It’s time for a change in Ontario.

“I am excited to have Jim back on our team, and I look forward to continue working with him to spread the Ontario PC Party’s message of a stronger and more prosperous province.”
