Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown Celebrating Armenian Independence Day

“I am pleased to join with our Armenian friends and neighbours in Ontario and proud Armenians throughout the world in celebrating the 26th anniversary of Armenia’s declaration of Independence from the Soviet Union.

“All across Ontario, and beyond,—this community continues to have an important impact on our province’s advancement and growth.

“Since the earliest days of their immigration, Ontario’s Armenian community has made significant contributions to the social, economic, and cultural development of our province and country.  Today’s celebration is a time to acknowledge and celebrate those contributions, and inspire their continuation in the years ahead.

“Ontarians of Armenian heritage reflect our most closely held values—freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, and continue to be an invaluable part of our province’s social fabric.

“Today provides a great opportunity for all of us to learn more about Armenia’s history, its fight for independence, and the many ways our Armenian friends and neighbours continue to make Ontario a better place to live.

“To all those celebrating, Happy Independence Day.”
